Hourly rate: $23.20 per hour (L2)

The Part-Time Childcare Worker (Sessional) is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Child Care Program in accordance with the goals of the department and the overall Association.

ABOUT BERGAMOT EARLY LEARNING CENTRE
YWCA Bergamot is a 68 unit apartment building with an Early Learning Centre in North Etobicoke for single women and women-led families in need of permanent, affordable, supportive housing. The Bergamot ELC is a center of excellence for early childhood development and licensed for 62 children ages 0 to 4. YWCA Bergamot demonstrates YWCA Toronto’s commitment to creating quality, affordable housing in which women and their children realize their dreams and move forward in their lives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
·        Follows age-appropriate daily routines for the children in accordance with the philosophy and Program Statement of the Early Learning Centre;

·        Works as part of a team with program staff and volunteers to provide an integrated program that enhances the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of children;

·        Supports the implementation of  a program geared to the needs of the children with concerns for their interests, special needs, strengths and pace of learning;

·        Works with the children in a group while maintaining sensitivity to each child’s individual needs;

·        Ensures that the Health and Safety Guidelines are followed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the funders, Bergamot  and the YWCA ;

·        Ensures appropriate notification of child abuse as required by the Child and Family Services Act in accordance with YWCA Toronto policies and procedures;

·        Records and submits weekly statistical records, as required.

QUALIFICATION
·        An Early Childhood Education Assistant Certificate or recognized equivalent required  (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);

·        Early Childhood Education diploma an asset;

·        1-3 years’ experience working with children 0-4;

·        Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR (Level C)

·        Skills and flexibility to work with various age groupings from 0 to 4 years;

·        Excellent interpersonal communication skills;

·        Knowledge of early childhood development, theory and practice an asset;

·        Experience working within a multicultural environment;

·        Second language an asset.

Vaccination Policy: In accordance with YWCA Toronto’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, all YWCA Toronto employees, students and volunteers are strongly encouraged to obtain all COVID-19 vaccinations and booster doses as recommended by Toronto Public Health.
