Are you looking for a meaningful community development role as the Parkdale Good Food Market Animator in an organization committed to personal and social change? Your job will focus on supporting implementation of the Parkdale Good Food Market – a weekly community event centered around selling fresh produce, and supporting the coordination of vendors, organizations, volunteers and activities.

Responsibilities:

·          Facilitate and coordinate the Parkdale Good Food Market on Thursday’s afternoons weekly from

June 23 – October 13, 2022

·          Manage and support the fresh produce tables, facilitate volunteer participation, and vendor support

·          Coordinate partners and vendors weekly

·          Order produce weekly with support from Greenest City program staff

·          Work with volunteers weekly who will support the market

·          Responsible for set up and clean up with support from team members.

·          Embody and promote anti-racist, anti-oppressive, equity-seeking practice in all aspects of work,

including with participants, community members, volunteers, neighbours, staff, stakeholders,

networks, and others

·          Support with social media and marketing weekly

·          Document the impact of the market

·          Work well with team members

·          Complete administrative duties as required weekly

·          Represent West Neighbourhood House and its mission in the community

·          Participate in activities of the Community Response and Advocacy Unit and of the House in general

and other duties as required

Qualifications:

·          Well-organized

·          Ability to lift heavy items such as tables and tents

·          Skills in working with community volunteers and partners

·          Worked with community-based food initiatives

·          Demonstrated ability to take initiative and self manage

·          Strong desire to learn

·          Experience in outreach and organizing events

·          Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with people of different ages, genders,

abilities, cultural backgrounds, and individuals who experience marginalization

·          Demonstrated commitment to the principles of social justice

·          Evidence of strong leadership and interpersonal skills

·          Good computer skills

·          Strong commitment to the environment/the earth

·          Live in Parkdale or Previous experience working/volunteering in the Parkdale community is an

asset

·          Fluency in another language other than English is an asset

·          A good sense of humour is also an asset

Status:   Short Term Part Time Contract to October 14, 2022

Start Date:   ASAP

Hours:   12 – 15 hrs a week

Unit:  Community Response & Advocacy

Immediate Supervisor:  Manager, Greenest City and Special Projects

Closing Date:   June 22, 2022

Compensation

Rate:  $25.44 (under review)
