Volunteer Ottawa Executive Director
Founded in 1957, Volunteer Ottawa is a registered charity that connects people to one another and to hundreds of local non-profits that rely on the time and talent of volunteers. To the residents of Ottawa, we offer resources to inspire, inform and engage, along with a single-point-of-access to thousands of volunteer opportunities throughout the city. For non-profits, Volunteer Ottawa provides a valuable shared service enriched by capacity building, toolkits, partnership and high-profile promotion of their vital community programs and services.
In the last few years, Volunteer Ottawa has seen a significant increase in community outreach, new and innovative partnerships, and strengthened connections with Ottawa’s non-profits. Due to a retirement, Volunteer Ottawa is seeking a dynamic Executive Director to continue to lead and grow this vital work.
Led by and reporting to a dedicated and committed Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the leadership of VO’s talented team and management of all aspects of the organization, ensuring that all programs and services reflect VO’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
This role calls for a collaborative leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As the ideal candidate, you bring knowledge of and experience in the voluntary sector. You are someone who thrives on building partnerships in the community and strongly believes in providing outstanding service to member organizations. You are innovative and creative and are motivated to lead VO to a greater level of impact in the non-profit sector.
As an ideal candidate, you have a university degree, a minimum of five years of relevant senior management experience and proven people leadership in the non-profit sector. You have expertise in financial management and have shown great success in resource development through the cultivation and maintenance of excellent working relationships with funders. You are a builder, a connector and comfortable championing VO as our primary spokesperson in the community.
Bilingualism is a strong asset. At a minimum, fluency in written and spoken English and conversational French is required.
Some remote work flexibility is available, but this role requires regular in-person presence at our Ottawa office and within the community to engage with members, partners, and funders on most weekdays.
