At Sheena’s Place, we offer hope and support to anyone 17+ affected by an eating disorder, as well as their families and friends, by providing a wide range of professionally facilitated support groups and services, free of charge. We are committed to inspiring hope, reducing stigma, raising awareness and offering meaningful help and information at all stages of recovery. Located in downtown Toronto, Sheena’s Place is a non-institutional, non-residential centre where people with similar issues and concerns come together in groups to share experiences, thoughts and feelings and to learn coping strategies. We offer groups for diverse individuals across the life span facing different mental health and disordered-eating challenges, as well as groups for families, friends and partners of those with eating disorders.
We are looking for a passionate, community minded and dedicated individual to join our small enthusiastic and professional team. The Senior Development Officer will lead our team in the acquisition, administration and stewardship of donors, partners and sponsors, and the management of events focused on fundraising.
Develop the annual fundraising plan and work to ensure annual fundraising goals are achieved.
Identify and complete proposals and grant applications.
Maintain and enhance direct mail fundraising campaign with a focus on monthly giving and online donations, enhance renewals.
Work to ensure donor and supporter emails, flyers, reports, graphics and engagement materials are up to date and in line with campaigns materials.
Work to support the Fundraising Committee and the Board of Directors on a regular basis
Build strong relationships with current and prospective donors, supporters, and partners.
Lead the planning and execution of Sheena’s Place donor events, including the annual fundraising event, donor cultivation and appreciation events and support to third party events
Responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of the donor database
Provide support to Director of Finance for the annual audit and budget process.
A proven track record of successfully leading a variety of development activities and achieving targets, ideally in a non-profit setting.
Strong written and oral presentation skills
Grant application and proposal writing experience.
Event management experience an asset.
Donor database experience.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
Highly organized and resourceful; able to handle multiple tasks within short timelines.
Self-motivated, strong personal initiative and ownership.
Terms of employment:
This is a full-time permanent position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
