Career Opportunity for a Community Outreach Professional

Are you committed to community outreach? Looking for an opportunity to take part in an exciting new initiative? Runnymede United Church supports refugee initiatives, food security, families in underdeveloped nations and local community connections. We are expanding our community outreach programming: looking to build and invest in a community-based set of initiatives in our neighbourhoods to address hunger, social isolation, justice, and inclusion and to create a higher level of congregational, volunteer and community engagement.  We call these CODE initiatives.

We are seeking a Community Outreach Development and Engagement (CODE) Programs Leader. The position will have responsibility for our developing our outreach and community development programs, and volunteer engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with church leadership members, and community volunteers to lead, organize, guide and execute our CODE initiatives. Responsibilities will include: helping to develop an outreach strategy, organizing and supporting CODE committee meetings, creating CODE communication messages and materials, gathering insights into community needs, managing partnership relationships, assisting with grant applications and building and leading a volunteer engagement and care program.

If you are interested in this position, you will have:

  • experience in paid and volunteer community development and organization;
  • work experience in not-for-profit organizations or faith communities;
  • experience in outreach and social justice related work;
  • experience in motivating and working with volunteers at scale;
  • strong oral and written communication skills;
  • strong organizational skills;
  • demonstrated initiative and energy for building and growing programs .

 

Compensation

This a full-time position, at 37.5 hours a week, at a salary in the range of $55,000 to $65,000 depending on the qualifications of the successful applicant, plus full United Church of Canada pension and benefits. Hours of work will be agreed upon, but it will include the core hours of 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday to Friday, on-site at our Runnymede Campus, and will include some evening meetings.  The successful candidate will also be expected to attend at least two Sunday morning church worship services a month in order to connect with congregation members.
