Rise is Canada’s only national organization dedicated to empowering people with mental health and addiction challenges to achieve greater social and economic inclusion through entrepreneurship. Through training, mentorship, micro-financing and other customs supports, we help individuals build the skills and access the capital they need to launch a small business that can improve quality of life and enable them to support themselves, their families and communities.

Your Opportunity

Rise is seeking a highly organized and resourceful program coordinator to join our team as Training Programs Coordinator. Reporting to our Director of Programs, this role is an exciting opportunity to help our small but mighty team deliver impact. Rise Training Programs form an integral element of our offering and are often the first exposure to entrepreneurship for many of our clients. We’re looking for a driven candidate who has a client-first mentality to take charge with the logistical rollout of multiple training program cohorts and events. Dealing with concurrent projects and a positive attitude to getting the job done are critical expectations for the successful candidate.

From conducting outreach to drive recruitment, to being a student liaison and keeping things running smoothly behind to scenes, and creating a welcoming environment for learning to flourish, the Training Programs Coordinator will be integral to the success of Rise’s high-impact programs that are helping to change lives.

 

Finding the right person for the job

This position will serve as a member of the Rise team headquartered in Toronto, ON. But more important than location, is finding the right person for the job. So, this position is open to candidates from across Canada to be filled remotely.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination

·       Cultivate and maintain a Canada-wide list of service providers working in Rise’s areas of interest, including employment support agencies, social service agencies who work with clients on social assistance, community mental health agencies and other community organizations

·       Work with colleagues to roll out a marketing and outreach plan to reach key audiences to drive recruitment for all training programs

·       Conduct comprehensive screening and selection processes to assess applications for fit, eligibility, and business viability

·       Serve as a student liaison and disseminate important communication for all students

·       Arrange all program logistics, including technical support workshops, student materials preparation, pitch session and graduation planning and execution

·       Manage technical platforms for delivery of training programs, including Zoom and Slack

·       Support facilitators with administrative aspects of class management

·       Setup the printing and distribution of program workbooks, disbursement of honoraria and other program supports such as laptops, and graduation certificates to Training Program participants

·       Using Slack, populate and animate channels for each cohort, as well as the larger Alumni channel

·       Work with the Training Programs Manager to setup events and workshops to enhance the learning opportunities of current clients and alumni throughout the year

Program Evaluation and Reporting

·       Ensure that any funder deliverables are tracked, and all relevant key performance indicators are collected and achieved

·       Coordinate and ensure that students complete the pre- and post-program surveys and take part in focus group interviews as directed.

·       Contribute to the drafting of funder reports and internal Rise reports relating to Rise Training Programs.

·       Make recommendations to management for program improvements

Essential Qualifications

·       University degree in education, social work, business or similar fields. A combination of relevant education and work experience may be considered.

·       Minimum two (2) years of experience in program coordination, education, workforce development or similar fields, ideally in a non-profit environment.

·       Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, Word and SharePoint

·       Exposure or familiarity with small business

·       Administrative project management experience including reporting

Assets

·       A background working with people who face barriers to employment and financial stability and/or individuals who have experienced mental health or addiction

·       Existing networks and relationships with potential partners to drive pipeline development

·       Experience with Salesforce, or similar CRM systems

·       Experience with multi-stage processes and procedures

·       Experience with curriculum and or training programs including recruitment

·       Experience building networks with multiple parties and agencies (connections)

·       Comfortable with business plans, financial statements and assessing viability

·       Bilingual in French and English

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $40,000-$44,000, with generous benefits, vacation and personal days.
