OASW is the voice of the social work profession in Ontario and our mission is to mobilize mental health and wellbeing across Ontario. We recently launched our 2022-2027 Strategic Plan which outlines how we will advance the social work profession by shaping the future of social work, leading equity integration, growing our membership, enhancing our engagement, and building a sustainable future for the organization.

As part of our enhanced engagement with our members, OASW launched the Local Engagement Network Program in Fall 2020, a structure that supports the local engagement of over 8,300 members across Ontario. We are looking for an Engagement Associate to join our team to provide administrative, technical, and logistical supports to this program. In addition, this individual will offer assistance for various member engagement and equity projects. If you are a detail-oriented and engaging individual, this position is well suited to you.

Priority Responsibilities

  • Provide event planning support to Networks for their events across Ontario, including registration, technical support, venue-sourcing, marketing, and sponsorships.
  • Serve as liaison for general inquiries from our members, speakers, presenters, and other stakeholders related to the Local Engagement Networks.
  • Proactively identify and recruit OASW members to engage in the Local Engagement Networks.

Priority Qualifications

  • Preference for MSW and/or BSW degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a membership association and/or in social services within a non-profit or academic environment.
  • Experience in planning and facilitating successful networking and educational events, both in-person and virtually on platforms such as Zoom and GoToWebinar.

Duties
Local Engagement Network Program (70%)

  • Provide event planning support to Networks for their events across Ontario, including registration, technical support, venue-sourcing, marketing, and sponsorships.
  • Serve as liaison for general inquiries from our members, speakers, presenters, and other stakeholders related to the Local Engagement Networks.
  • Proactively identify and recruit OASW members to engage in the Local Engagement Networks.
  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and other materials to support the success of our Local Engagement Ambassadors.
  • Collate data to assist in evaluating outcomes of the program, including maintenance and creation of spreadsheets.
  • Record financial transactions to support accurate tracking of multiple budgets.
  • Support and implement strategies that engage with specific populations within our membership, including student and Francophone members.
  • Support other OASW events and trainings as needed.

Equity Integration Projects (15%)

  • Provide administrative support for projects focused on equity integration and creating spaces of belonging, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Research (15%)

  • Provide support and gather evidence for current and upcoming projects on member engagement and equity.
  • Offer ongoing research and administrative support/assistance including literature/file reviews and environmental scans.
  • Assist with the collection, management, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data in support of research and program evaluation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Preference for MSW and/or BSW degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a membership association and/or in social services within a non-profit or academic environment.
  • Experience in planning and facilitating successful networking and educational events, both in-person and virtually on platforms such as Zoom and GoToWebinar.
  • Experience in building and engaging communities consisting of diverse voices and identities.
  • Ability to provide prompt and responsive customer service to a diverse range of people to build rapport and address emerging issues.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and pay close attention to details.
  • Adaptability to changing environments and multiple priorities, and high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating well with people and teams, as well as building strong relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Are fluent in English and French.
  • Possess extensive experience using iMIS
  • Have strong knowledge of data analysis and statistics.

Reports To: Manager of Local Engagement Network Program.

Hiring Range: $40,000-$55,000
