We are seeking a strategic leader with the capacity to scale up our social enterprise that trains women across fields and sectors to more effectively communicate their knowledge and increase their influence. This role is critical to sustaining and building Informed Opinions’ work and impact.


The Director of Operations & Development will be responsible for:

– Assessing, monitoring and providing oversight of Informed Opinions’ operations and existing social enterprise programs;
– Reviewing, updating and implementing the marketing plan;
– Expanding the reach, revenue and impact of the social enterprise, including developing strategic partnerships;
– Collaborating with other team members to review and adapt related programs and communications as necessary to support growth;
– Monitoring and reporting on grant requirements and organization needs;
– Managing the annual planning and budgeting process.


The successful candidate will ideally have:

…experience in many, if not all, of the following:
– Business development –  growing revenues, scaling up social enterprise
– Project management – designing, planning and executing against a plan
– Marketing and communications – creating/executing strategic campaigns
– Non-profit management
– Financial management – managing revenues and expenditures

…an awareness of:
– Gender in/equality and intersectional feminism
– Legacy (traditional news) media and social media, and the role of thought leadership

…proficiency in or an interest in developing:
– Public speaking
– Media relations

…an educational background in one or more of the following:
– Business administration
– Non profit management
– Marketing
– Partnership development
– Program development

Given Informed Opinions’ national status and our investment in the sister initiative, Femmes Expertes, the ability to speak and write in French would be an asset.


The ideal candidate, if they demonstrate the right core competencies and are the right cultural fit, would be considered for future succession planning to lead the organization in the capacity of the next CEO.


The salary range is between $110,000 and $120,000 a year, plus benefits. Because Informed Opinions has always operated virtually, the Director of Operations & Development can live anywhere in Canada that is supported by strong Internet service. In addition, we offer flexible hours within a framework that supports collaboration with other staff and accessibility to key stakeholders.
