POSITION
The Strategic Initiatives Lead reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and works in lock step with all teams to advance Alliance’s strategic objectives. This position is responsible for supporting the CEO on high-priority matters relating to the policy direction and strategic initiatives of the Alliance. The Lead is responsible for project implementation, execution of strategic initiatives, and liaises with members and provincial partners. This position is responsible for the strategies to enhance Francophone access to services, as well as francophone and bilingual membership’s positioning in Ontario.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning
- With the CEO, coordinates the Alliance’s strategic planning process.
- Based on Alliance’s strategic plan, identifies strategic initiatives to be included in Alliance’s annual operational plans.
- Identifies the interdependencies and linkages between the strategic plan, operational plans and work plans.
- Monitors progress towards achieving strategic objectives and contributes to Board reporting.
CEO Support
- Works closely with the CEO and Leadership Team to execute strategic decisions. When necessary, conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis in addressing key issues impacting strategic decisions.
- As needed, attends Leadership Team meetings to present analysis and options on key strategic priorities and issues.
- Collaborates with the Directors; develops briefings for the CEO to further strategic directions, policy and advocacy portfolios.
- Assesses external inquiries directed to the CEO, determines the proper course of action, and coordinates with the appropriate individual to manage.
Cross Agency Collaboration
- Project manages high-priority initiatives by mobilizing and coordinating with cross-discipline team members.
- Provides periodic progress updates on strategic initiatives and key priorities.
- Builds and maintains relationships across all teams to influence strategic outcomes.
Policy and Advocacy Advancement
- Working with the Research and Policy team, conducts literature research, interprets qualitative/ quantitative findings, scientific reports, sources data from the internet (Ontario Legislature website, Hansard, OH, Ministries, etc.), and performs environmental scans to advance strategic initiatives when necessary.
- Identifies and acts on current and anticipated/ unanticipated policy and legislative issues impacting members.
- Monitors, reviews and responds to member operational issues as they relate to the strategic priorities.
- Develops or contributes to briefing notes, letters, communiqués, presentations, reports, summaries and position papers.
- Develops responses/ submissions to legislation, position statements, presentations and formulates plans/ tactics (including but not limited to Francophone issues).
- Provides content for Alliance communication products in alignment with strategic directions and initiatives.
- Provides recommendations on operational elements such as budget analyses, compensation frameworks, and business cases.
- Develops and cultivates strategic relationships with members and provincial partners.
- Builds and maintains positive stakeholder partnerships ranging from Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, to Ministry of Infrastructure or Office of Francophone Affairs.
Francophone Strategy and Bilingual Support
- Supports Francophone and bilingual members.
- Advances Board resolutions related to resourcing and Francophone strategies.
- Advises on Alliance’s internal policies and processes related to bilingual activities.
- Conducts occasional short translations from English to French/ French to English and proofreads content as required.
Member Engagement and Support
- Supports the Francophone Advisory Committee, Executive Leadership Network, and related working groups and specific strategies.
- Develops agendas, advances action items and provides input on discussion summaries, meeting notes, snapshot analyses, presentations, etc.
- Attends and acts as subject matter expert during stakeholder meetings, and leads and facilitates discussions as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree in relevant areas of study, or combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in similar role facilitating or coordinating networks, executing strategies, synthesizing / analyzing information, preparing reports and engaging in stakeholder relations.
- Bilingualism in both English and French required.
- Proficient in word processing, writing reports and preparation of presentations.
- Experience with project tracking software preferred.
- Knowledge of Ontario health system, models of health and wellbeing, and primary care an asset.
- Solid understanding of health equity.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve strategic initiatives.
- Must possess a valid Ontario “G” driver’s license to travel within Ontario.
- Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office software applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Commitment to the principles of Health Equity, as outlined in the Alliance’s Health Equity Charter.
- Ability to conduct work in keeping with the Alliance’s commitment to anti-oppression, anti-racism (including anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism), French language services, and to being 2SLGBTQ+ positive.
- Experience in a non-profit, provincial association is an asset.
WORK LOCATION
This position will have some flexibility of working from home and will be required to be on-site when needed at the Alliance office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Compensation
Annual Salary: $69,369 A 5% premium will be added upon demonstrating proof of French language proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking. The Alliance offers an exceptional benefits package, including pension with HOOPP, extended health and dental benefits, and a generous vacation package.
